This painting is about choosing your own path, even when others cannot see it.

The bird emerges from a rich world of color, memories and experiences. Behind her lies everything that has shaped her: familiar places, old stories, expectations, opinions and the comfort of what is known.

Yet her gaze is fixed forward. Toward an open space that remains unwritten.

The pale background symbolizes possibility. It is the blank page of a new chapter, untouched by fear, doubt or the voices of others. It holds no guarantees and no clear map. Only the freedom to begin again.

The bird represents courage. Not the absence of uncertainty, but the willingness to move despite it.

She knows that not everyone will understand her decision. Some may question it. Others may discourage it. Many will only see what she is leaving behind, while she sees what might still become possible.

The flowers and colors that surround her are not something she escapes from. They are part of her story. They represent everything she has learned, endured and carried with her. Her past is not abandoned.

It becomes her wings. She Flew Anyway is about the moment we stop waiting for permission.

Dit schilderij gaat over het kiezen van je eigen pad, zelfs wanneer anderen het niet kunnen zien.

De vogel komt voort uit een wereld vol kleur, herinneringen en ervaringen. Achter haar ligt alles wat haar heeft gevormd: vertrouwde plekken, oude verhalen, verwachtingen, meningen en de veiligheid van het bekende.

Toch is haar blik gericht op wat voor haar ligt. Op een open ruimte die nog onbeschreven is.

De lichte achtergrond symboliseert mogelijkheden. Het is de blanco pagina van een nieuw hoofdstuk, onaangeraakt door angst, twijfel of de stemmen van anderen. Er zijn geen garanties en geen uitgestippelde route. Alleen de vrijheid om opnieuw te beginnen.

De vogel staat symbool voor moed. Niet voor het ontbreken van onzekerheid, maar voor de bereidheid om toch in beweging te komen.

Ze weet dat niet iedereen haar keuze zal begrijpen. Sommigen zullen haar bevragen. Anderen zullen haar proberen tegen te houden. Velen zien vooral wat ze achterlaat, terwijl zij ziet wat er nog mogelijk kan worden.

De bloemen en kleuren om haar heen zijn niet iets waar ze van wegvlucht. Ze maken deel uit van haar verhaal. Ze vertegenwoordigen alles wat ze heeft geleerd, doorstaan en met zich meedraagt. Haar verleden wordt niet achtergelaten.

Het wordt haar vleugels. She Flew Anyway gaat over het moment waarop we stoppen met wachten op toestemming.

en voor onze eigen stem boven de verwachtingen van anderen.

Het herinnert ons eraan dat ieder nieuw begin een afscheid vraagt. En dat het soms het moedigste is wat we kunnen doen, om onze vleugels uit te slaan, voordat we precies weten waar we zullen landen.
